SIM card is undetected in other phone, is it dead?

I've been trying to get a new phone to activate on my Page Plus pay as you go account.

They did the usual activation process, but then the phone doesn't seem to program. They say the SIM is activated, but in the phone's data it says "Unknown Provider" and the phone number is all zeros.

The last thing the tech guy recommended was putting the sim card in a different phone and see if it works there. When I did that the 2nd phone said "SIM Not Detected"

Does that mean the SIM card is bad or something since it won't work on the first phone and isn't detected on the 2nd phone?

Update:

EDIT:

We got disconnected because it was late at night, and I won't have time for a bit to contact them again, so I figured I'd get your thoughts.

The Phone is a J3 Orbit by the way.

Yes, or the bronze part may be dirty and the data transfer to the phone was canceled out because of dust or anything blocking it, or it might be because the phone's bronze receiver is dirty or broken.

After cleaning the contacts on the sim card & the phone itself, make sure when taking to tech support, that the APN settings are current for the carrier and the phone. Otherwise data is not going to work, even if the phone is carrier unlocked. The reason you are checking the APN settings, is that sometimes, When there are hardware changes or sim updates, the there may be minor differences that cause the older APN settings to be out of date, especially on a different phone.

Could be a glitch to hardware issue. Try turning airplane mode on for 30 seconds then turn off and see if corrects the issue
