I want to be a police officer but have a bad eye so what should I do?

I want to do police or firefighting or something with action and adrenaline but my left eye is bad. It had surgery from retinal detachment and I cant see any letters on the eye chart with my left eye alone. Therefore it cant have correctional surgery to make the vision better. I dont want to sit behind a desk and I cant do something that sends me away for long periods of time like military but I still want to have a career that I can get my adrenaline rush and get to the action. Am I screwed or does anyone have any suggestions?

If you have problems with your vision then the civilian services such as Police, Fire or Ambulance will not take you other than a desk job.

The military will also have the same point of view and it is unlikely they would take you at all.

I am sorry if that is your wish but something medical prevents you from doing so.

But if you want an adrenalin rush then there are plenty of organisations and clubs that cater for people with disabilities to allow you to get it.

Rock climbing, parachuting, scuba diving, abseiling, Bungi Jumping. There are loads of things you can do to get the rush without working for the services.

Tough, that is life, set another direction. I was told ten years ago that I could no longer do my chosen profession. I could no longer do anything heavy, I can't sit nor stand for more then 30 minutes or so, i can walk though. Today i was told there was nothing more that can be done for my pain, the shots only partially block the nerve pain now. It will only increase from here and there is nothing that can be done. This is life, it sucks and it is pain, but one must continue forward.

Not to worry, No Service will accept you.

Not even a uniformed security service.

Maybe the Merchant Marine, but you have to break the Union, which can be tough.

I suggest you learn Chartered Accountancy, then go for Forensic certification. That might get you into the backdoor of a police authority.
