Is it bad for me to practice two different sports?

I'm 15, and I love practicing basketball, I practice it regularly and don't inted to stop. But, I really wanna start practicing volleyball as well...my mom won't let me cus she says it's bad for me and that I should focus on only one sport, but I think I could handle it. (I'd practice basketball for 2-3 days a week and volleyball twice a week)

Tons of research out there to support multi sport athletes. Some of the best bball players I know play vball because the sports are very similar. Vball is actually a physical break in a way because you don't have ppl crashing into you while playing. You get that net between you and the opponent. So you get to run and jump and hit and have fun without someone knocking you into the bleachers!

Learning to play more than one sport is good because each one you learn has somewhat different movements that will help as cross-training for other sports you play. Additionally, for young ladies there have been a dramatic increase in major knee injuries for those who play only one sport because it causes repetitive motion injuries. This was the finding of a study on soccer players.

I dont think so personally. Your mother is in charge and she probably knows whats best for you.

I’m going through the same thing rn. I play volleyball regularly and love it. But I want to try something new. Like basketball. I would start out slow on volleyball and see how you like it... it just depends on time and personal limitations. :)
