Do SSRI antidepressants take sex drive and excitement away forever?
Male 26 years old
I stopped Sertraline/zoloft (50mg) a month ago after being on it for 6 weeks.
One day i woke up and my sex drive and excitement (gut feeling) had disappeared so i decided to stop the medication.
i explained it to the doctor and he said that it would come back over time, but its been a month and there is no difference.
if this is going to continue i dont think there is much of point in living anymore since i am a virgin and all my hope were that one day i would meet the girl of my dreams, but i have been stripped off of that!
I am fully numb, no anger, no anxiety, no pain, no motivation and at the moment no will to live if this continues!
does somebody have some kind of an explanation? please i need help and i cant trust the doctors!!

It takes awhile to get those to level out and you get back to normal. My late wife had to get on those and she was like a zombie for awhile but she did come back around. I think it took her about two months or so to get normal but it's been years and my memory isnt the best.

It's a very common phenomenon of SSRIs. But when you stop, once a few weeks have elapsed and the medication is out of your system, desire will return. However, are you sure it is the SSRI has done this to you, and not your depression. That can have a very similar effect. And it's a vicious cycle, because you feel bad, your desire goes so you feel worse.
Get your life in order, with or without medication and a better life will come to you.
