You have to pay your ticket for no registration or if you get a registration they're likely to just drop the ticket selling the car and getting rid of it won't get rid of the ticket

The ticket stays on your record until you die and your estate settles the matter. That statute of limitations has already been satisfied. You cannot escape this. It is most likely to pop up and bite you when you least expect it and can least handle the ruined day as the officer takes you down to jail for having an unpaid ticket. The next time you're in the vicinity of an officer, just ask yourself what the impact would be if you were arrested right then and get taken to jail and have to pay the ticket before they release you. If you don't like the feeling that gives you, then just pay the ticket.

You still have to go to court. Simply no longer having the car does not change the fact you broke the law.

You can never forget about the ticket. You owe the fine, period.

You still have to pay or fight it in court.
