I keep hearing the term "Beatles purist". What does it mean?

Is a purist a fan that only listens to the music duiring a certain point the the band's history, like only the 50's sounding songs?

Update:

So somebody on a FB group had told me that a Beatles "purist" will only listen to a Beatles song sung by the actual Beatles. No covers are accepted.

Someone who believes The Beatles is and always will be the pinnacle of music despite the subsequent release of albums by acclaimed bands such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Joy Division, Creed, Nirvana, My Bloody Valentine, Velvet Underground, etc.

I've no idea,I've never heard the term!

I don't know why but over the last couple of decades people have made up lots of meaningless, pointless terms which other people then start using thinking it makes them sound cool or clever

It's just another meaningless term. I grew up listening to my sisters' Beatles albums starting with 'Meet the Beatles' and bought my own copies in the 1970s, and have been a fan of them ever since. But using terms like that suggests a form of judgmentalism that I don't buy into. I like what I like and let others like what they like. I don't like certain genres of music and am not shy about saying so, but I don't judge anyone who likes that music. 'Purism' means nothing to me.

It means someone who refuses to listen to 'music' that was created after Paul died and was replaced.
