If most meat tastes like chicken, why do most vegetables tastes so different from each other?

people say "tastes like chicken" to call you a wuss for not eating whatever "exotic" food they're trying make you eat. It doesn't refer to beef or any other meat. Also a lot of the time when people say that they're dirty liars and shouldn't be trusted

I never thought most meat tastes like chicken.

It's actually about texture. A lot of meats, especially poultry or other "light" meats like chicken don't have much flavor of their own, but the same texture, so they're reminiscient of chicken.

Vegetables come in a variety of textures, from soft to hard and from woody to tender, and many have unique flavors, from sweet squash to spicy radish.

most meat doesn't taste like chicken. Beef, pork and chicken all have very distinct flavors. the meats that do resemble chicken often have a very mild flavor, like chicken does.

AND many veggies do taste similar. Sweet potatoes, pumpkin, winter squash and carrots all have a similar flavor and some folks cannot tell the difference between a squash pie, sweet potato pie or pumpkin pie. Leeks, shallots, chives and onions all have a similar flavor, only divided by how strong or mild that flavor is.

Personally, I don't think most meats taste like chicken, but the biggest difference between meat and vegetables are that vegetables from from plants and meat comes from animals- two entirely different kingdoms, so it's not surprising there's a big difference.

Beef has its own wonderful taste, so does a pork chop. But you're right. All vegetables taste different. Maybe to try and fool us into thinking they're good.

To be honest, I think that when people say that things taste like chicken I think they are referring more to the texture of it rather than the actual taste. Just my opinion though.

Muscles were made for one thing, it's just a bonus it takes so good.
