Is this even legal?

My college is trying to get 50 undergraduate students to apply to go on an expedition to mars. The planet that takes years to get to.

So you’re trying to get thousands of dollars out of me in tuition fees just to throw me into another planet and leave me there? I don’t even think the astronauts wanna go to mars.

Pay for it on your return - not before.

If it's not a joke/publicity stunt/or similar then you need to find another college.

Promoting suicide might be illegal in some states. Jack Kavorkian found that out.

Mars does not take "years" to get to. You clearly need to take an astronomy course at your college. P.S.: an application does not guarantee acceptance

No college can force to pay for something you do not want to do, especially if you have legitimate medical reasons NOT to do something. NO college can FORCE you to enroll. If you refuse to act like a civilized adult, they can refuse to allow you in campus.

So what? Just because you apply, it doesn't mean you will be accepted or even pass the tests. Just apply and laugh it off.
