Why do people alwas slalom when skiing? Why does noone just go straight down the hill?

If you go straight down the hill instead of turning, you'll be unable to slow your speed and will end up dead or injured.

I would go down straight through..  the slalom course was not much fun..  fresh snow instead of packed is 10 times more fun...  packed snow is better for the economy because of broken bones and hospital visits...    right guys??? right..

Because crashing face-first at 90mph hurts.
