Is Present Value required for the Future Value (Excel) Function?
If the present value is optional, does that mean it is 0?

If you don't enter a value, yes, 0 is assumed. It lets you specify an initial balance to which the future payments will be made.
Any optional numerical parameters in Excel formulas will generally be assumed to be 0 if nothing is entered.
