Why do today's therapists turn patients against their own families?

I have a daughter (in her 40's) and grand daughter (I her 20's) who have both visited a therapist. After a time, the therapist seems to have brain washed them into turning against their own family members for no reason at all. My family has been turned upside down by this and in constant turmoil over B.S., lies and made up excuses towards family members. When will this all end?

I've read your questions and answers.

I'd suggest you worry less about your family and more about your own mental health.

Hard to say if this therapist is just insane (which begs the question how they maintain a license) or if some truths you just don't want to hear are coming into the light. So do some research on this shrink. If you don't find a lot of other complaints you're going to have to consider that what your daughter and granddaughter are telling you might just be the truth (I know it's hard to hear but you might have to).

They don't. If that happens, there's a reason beyond some therapist's actions. There's no rule taught to modern therapists that they must turn people against their families. They don't "brainwash" people.

Therapists try to support patients in what decisions they wish to make. If your daughter and granddaughter have chosen to distance themselves from you, that is THEIR choice. I assure you there's a reason, even if they don't feel like telling you what it is right now.

A therapist that is NOT a good therapist can cause more damage to a person than before they started seeing them for help.

A person has to be very careful to get a GOOD therapist.

They need to find another - GOOD - therapist immediately.

Why do people even go to therapists? How can a stranger know more about you than you?

The USA does that. They did it to my family. They do it online a lot too. Especially here on yahoo. The mods and most people are like that in the USA. Basically the whole United Nations.
