is YA under attack by accounts that post short gibberish answers?

I asked 4 questions since last night in 3 different categories. I keep getting answers like "fjklaiur" or "djkajdkfj" from different users. In one of my questions, 15 out of the 16 answers were like this. Just one. Is it just me?

Update:

Also, what's the significance of "8 letters"?

There is some sort of major raid from China. Hundreds - if not more - accounts are being created and posting the non-answers. Many have been around since the 19th and are posting long "questions" that are like segments of history or some other sort of story lines. UPDATE - They come from a blog site in China.

I've been observing this all day and don't know what the motive is.

It's not spam in the ordinary sense. No links to products or services.

Surely there's a bot that's creating all these, but to what purpose I cannot even make any rational guess.

If you spot the questions, you can use Google Translate and see if you can get any sense of why they post these so-called questions.

I'm at a loss for determining a motive.

Check the ***Terms of Service*** violation box when you spot them..2 or 3 reports seem effective at dropping their spam

    Yes.

And you’re part of the problem. You are posting gibberish answers too!

Somebody got into the system and start messing with it.

It is idiot that kept asking the Chinese questions and they have various different IDs because if you check out each answer it is all the same questions in Chinese. Others have reported it to Yahoo and it is being investigated - probably some stupid teen but they will get stopped when Yahoo follow their IP address and police turn up at their home for breaching Yahoo Security??

There have been many other questions about this already. It became really noticeable on 12/28. Those posts are from spam bots. They are not being posted by people. They are automated. Report them. Mostly report the gibberish answers of misc letters. The accounts are attempting to gain points in order to post more Chinese language spam questions, even though we don't see those questions in the categories because the spam filter is catching them.
