Why do democrats hate guns?

How do you manage to turn wanting control and regulation of gun ownership, which stops criminals and the mentally ill from owning guns into "hating guns"?

We don't hate guns, its just something has to be done to protect Americans. There is too much firepower in the average persons hands.

They are invented with the purpose to cause destruction. They were not a good invention.

That's how Republicans beat them in the civil war.... superior weaponry. They lost their slaves so they think outlawing guns might help get them back.
