My 20 year old daughter is extremely sensitive? How can I help her?
I have a 20 year old daughter that is EXTREMELY sensitive. She seems to cry about almost everything. Like one day when she was in high school, she asked one of her teachers to give her the notes she missed a day she was absent and the teacher said no because she wasn't allowed to. She came home crying and told me she was worried she would fail her class for getting behind. Another example is when one of her classmates interrupted her mid sentence and walked away from her. She told me she started crying as soon as her classmate turned around because she felt ignored. After this, my daughter decided to avoid her and not talk to her again. One last example is when I was taking out the trash and she asked me a question but I kind of yelled at her saying that I was busy and that I didn't want to talk at the moment. She went to her room crying. My daughter suffers from social anxiety and depression and she has always have a hard time with rejection. When she was little she would get extremely bullied and rejected by her classmates and teachers even. What makes me sad is that I don't have the money to pay her a psychologist or get her professional help. How can I help her stop being overly sensitive?

You can't stop hr being overly sensitive, you address why she's sensitive (it may be due to anxiety but could she be Autistic? This s would explain sensitivity and it may be meltdowns rather than just being sensitive) and look to reduce instances where she will get upset, teach means of coping with these situation, and reduce overall stress which will make her more sensitive.

Contact your local health department and ask for a list of free or low-cost clinics in your area. Ask them if they also have a list of low-cost or free mental health services in your area. You could also contact Social Services and ask them if they have a list of counseling services in your area. Check with your church or local community center to see if they offer any services that could help.
