What do I do?

My boyfriend broke up with me last week and we had a talk yesterday about why and stuff he said it’s because he felt like I always wanted to be with him and if he told me he couldn’t see me the way I reacted would annoy him, he said he needs some time to himself, we didn’t see each other much maybe once or twice a week in the evening, he said he understands why I got annoyed, I explained I was trying to improve my mood and stuff and said I wish he told me about these things earlier so we could’ve worked on them, when he did break up with me we was both really up set and he said he feels really bad and he’s sorry and doesn’t want me to hate him, when we spoke about it yesterday he said he’s not promising anything but maybe we could get back together in the future, what should I do to make that a higher chance?
