My new doctor cancelled the refills on the prescription my old doctor gave me. Is this legal?

I had 2 refills on medication from my old doctor. He left the clinic I go to. I tried to fill the script and pharmacy called me and said the new doctor I'm seeing cancelled the refills on my meds. Can he do this?

Yes it's legal. It's also legal for you to keep shopping for new doctors until you find one that will continue your prescription. What was the prescription?
