Spiritually, what is a term for "a pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance."?
Next, what is a term for believing in a proposition without proof for the proposition?
BA is perhaps a little too brief.
Idolatry -- worship of anything except God.
Gullibility -- believing ideas with zero support beside ideological framework.
Atheists believe without proof God does not exist (agnostics don't have this gullibility).
Christians make a leap of faith but then receive many kinds of confirmations that are proof for them.

Cosmic (ascended) master - the 63rd initiation
Ascended master - 6th initiation
Adept - the 5th initiation
Arhat - the 4th initiation
Initiate - the 3rd initiation
Disciple - the 1st and the 2nd initiation

Religion
Why?
Because religion is the pursuit of reward ascribed to be of supreme importance
Faith
Why?
Because Faith is the foundation of religion which requires you believe in the proposition of going to Heaven - the Ultimate Reward, with absolutely no proof of that being true or existent.
