Placing her hand on your mid back, what's the significance?

I have a friend, she and I are fairly close and can be fairly affectionate towards each other. One day while we were walking somewhere side by side I wrapped my arm around her waist. She responded by placing her hand on my mid-back so that her fingers were between my lower shoulder blades. How personal is that hand placement generally considered?
