Would mass sterilization on a global scale benefit mankind?

I just recently watched the movie Inferno, and it did make me wonder if mass sterilization could actually solve crisis. I mean it's cruel and all, but what about from a more objective view.

No, any, and all forms of state-driven 'birth control' results in the opposite. China didn't have their population boom until they adopted the 1 child policy.

And the reason is logical, right now, without pressure people can wait to have kids, a lot never do, if you force it, people will choose early, and if you take a group of 100, in today's world, without pressure 30 choose for kids, a lot just 1, some 2, 3 or more, with pressure 95-100 will choose kids, so by forbidding more kids, you're tripling the potential.

Not making a point of it, will keep population in check, and, and this is important, a good standard of life, because the more hopeless you become, the more kids you'll have because you're going to need to at least a chance of getting out of misery.

When 18,000 children starve to death every day it shows we

    need drastic action.

But,it's not so much that the Earth is over populated,it's the greed.

When some people are worth billions while other have nothing

    that shows the real problem.

from a point of view prioritizing happiness mass sterilization would most certainly benefit humanity. if in a century the amount of people dropped severely much more people could afford to live in luxury but then the question becomes not one of how happy humanity is but how it will progress if the vast majority were sterilized in-breeding would become increasingly more common leading to a serious drop of intelligence and probably devolving humanity to the point the species just dies out

Or people could use contraception, which is a much better solution to overpopulation.

'Crises' is the plural of crisis.
