My car stereo has 50 watts per channel into 4 channels.
I keep the volume low to medium because it is perfectly adequate. Medium volume is plenty for some serious rocking. Distortion increases at higher volumes and I want to HEAR my music at the best quality it can be.
Our hearing is non-linear. A 200 watt amplifier is not twice as loud as 100 watt amplifier. To our ears, it is only a fraction louder. Our ears are more sensitive at low volumes but the sensitivity falls away at higher volumes. So, half volume in my car on a 50 watt stereo is plenty ....AND it won't permanently damage my hearing.

Has everything to do with how you hear it comfortably, stereos are made with this kind of range to accommodate the listener. Everyone hears different hence why some might say "can you turn that down a little" or " are you deaf" lol
