Is anybody responsible for removing the malware from Linux?
Is anybody responsible for removing the malware from Linux or preventing it from being a part of the current update? Thanks in advance!

All official Linux distributions are checked and re-checked to ensure they do not contain malware. And there are md5 hash checks you can use to ensure you only get a legitimate copy. Any site that allows the downloads to become infected should be permanently avoided.

You are. Linux is open source, meaning you can look at the code and see if there are problems with it. You can make changes and share those changes with others.
