Im looking for a new guitar amplifier?
I have a Roland cube amp and it has built in phaser, flanger, chorus, tremolo, delay, reverb and looper effects and I'm looking for a bigger venue sized head and cab, but I already like the effects built into this one and I don't want to have to go out and buy new pedals to get the same effect. Are there any amp heads out there with the same built in effects as my current Roland has?
Second question, is it possible to connect a head and a cab even if they are different brands? Or do the brand names have to match for it to work properly?

Generally these onboard effects amps are reserved for your solid state modeling amps and I doubt you're ready to pony up for a Kemper Profiler, But that doesn't mean you cant find a decent SS amp head at reasonable price, Although its hard to beat Roland when it comes to they're modeling and onboard effects, Meaning another brand may have these features but don't do it as well as Roland, Unless of course you plan to pony up, So you really need to try them before you buy them, Roland does make a head type amp with its Blues Cube, and the Boss Wasa but they're also pony up amps and don't have the FX you want, Provide your own and hopefully Boss or Roland as far as they're concerned, Meaning once you step up to these types of amps they figure you've graduated past the all in one combo amp, Which leads me to believe your on a serious budget or a complete newb, Roland/Boss does a great job with the entry to intermediate level Cube's. Gives the entry level player a taste of some of the FX Boss offers and the COSM modeling Roland provides, Now lets spend some money for the real thing, Pony up kid, As to the Cab? Speakers are speakers kid, as long as you match the impedance be it 4, 8, or 12 it really doesn't matter, Your pony up amps and cabs have settings for this, Meaning if you buy a China queen amp that only has the option of 8 ohm and you plug it into a 4 or 12 ohm cab, bad things will happen, So that's why poor boys buy the matched set of brand name Chinese made crap heads and cabs just to be safe, Sort of, Meaning you'll pony up someday when your tired of replacing crap broken down crappy sounding gear,

The Roland Cube is a real nice amp. I gig with a Cube 80 and if I needed to be louder, I'd consider mic-ing it through the PA. You didn't say which model Cube you own, but one option would be to buy a second one and stack them.
If you really have your heart set on a head & cab setup, here are a couple affordable ones that have built-in effects.

You can mix different brands of cabs. The important thing that matters is the power and ohm rating. The cab must be rated the same or higher than the output of the head.
