How do I PREVENT my dryer from making my blankets threadbare by constantly removing the lint?

Update:

This is driving me crazy. Every time I dry blankets, there is a huge amount of lint in the lint-trap...and my nice, fluffy blankets seem to be turning into old codgers that'll need replacement before long. If I had a house, I'd just hang these puppies on the line, but in an apt. building, this just ain't practical. What's the answer?!!! ; (

Update 2:

Yes, I am doing this after a wash...and to suggest I just not dry them is a nutty, inadequate answer. Obviously, I need to dry them...and don't want them to get mildewy. Are there some dryers which DON'T do this? Seems like poor design of the dryers.

Update 3:

Interesting angle...about a gentler wash cycle, though these washers don't seem to have this option. Though a more gentle dry cycle might help, I suppose.

Don't put them in there would be the obvious solution if it is in fact the dryer causing the damage. Are you also running them through the washing machine? Maybe the cycle is too rough.

try to hang them out on a clothes line , if one is not available use a clothes horse and place in a room that gets a lot of sun
