how are you taking the Lansoprazole?

it should be taken on an empty stomach and it's not like an anti acid, you have to take it every day and will take a few days for it to have the full effect. i'm on Lansoprazole as well, when i started it i was taking it in the morning as soon as i woke up and then at night, done this for 1 week after which i just take it in the morning.

if you are on it long term, make sure that you also start taking Vitamin D and Calcium suppliments, as they cause calcium deficiency and less dense bones if you are on it long term, not sure if the calcium+Vitamin D will help, but it's best to try to counteract the side effects of it whilst you can.

forget Zantac, you need something stronger if it's not working, something like a liquid solution, if you can get Gaviscon liquid, it should work instantly to lower the acid levels.

See your doctor and get some stronger meds. Acid reflux can eat away at your esophagus and also get acids into your lungs- not pleasant. Avoid carbohydrates after about 7 or 8 pm since carbs tend to "feed" reflux for some reason.

try to eat the least possible acidic food in he evening and again don't eat too much before going to bed.

I got rid of my acid reflux for good just drinking apple cider vinegar in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon if I ate something acidic... start with a tea spoon and work your way up to a table spoon always mixed this with a medium glass of water, and drink it in the morning before anything else... good luck!

Yes to all things said to do but also consider getting tested for H pylori. It's a bacteria and treated with a cocktail of meds. Diagnosed with a super blood test

You can try Prilosec OTC medication. Raise the head of your bed 3 inches and this might help. If that don't work I would suggest that you go see a doctor.

Source(s): I have a hiatal hernia and I take a prescription drug that is the same as Prilosec and have my bed raised 3 inches. They don't want to operate on the hernia and so far this has helped me get by.

after one month reduce dose to 20mg

See a gastroenterologist if you haven't already. They will send you for a upper endoscopy. I take Dexilant and it works great, but is by prescription only.
