Was anyone surprised Gary Shandling died?

I saw him on Jerry Seinfeld s Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee and he was way over weight and his head looked like a balloon.

    He revealed to Seinfeld during the car trip that he had "hyper parathyroid gland" that made him "lethargic, puffy and heavy", so whether that or any medication was the cause of the heart attack, I guess will be revealed later. Ironically, the title of the episode with Seinfeld was “It’s Great That Garry Shandling Is Still Alive”.

    He had the good fortune to die before he found out he isn't or rather wasn't funny. Look what Robin Williams did when he realized he wasn't funny anymore. It just amazes me how so many of these "comics" become famous and they just are not in any way funny.
