"gender"? Do you mean "genre"? lol. Anyways, these are some of my favorites:

    - The Wire (The Wire a crime drama that focuses on the drug trade in Baltimore, Maryland. The series focuses on many different issues: The police, the gangs, the politics, the school system, the docks, the newspapers, etc.)

    - The Sopranos (The Sopranos is a modern mafia story. It mainly follows Tony Soprano, who at the start of the show is a Capo in the DiMeo crime family in New Jersey. But soon he becomes the boss and the show follows him, and others in the crime family, showing both their lives in the mafia and their personal lives.)

    - Deadwood (Deadwood is a western. It is about a gold mining camp in the Dakota Hills during the 1870s. There are many main characters in the show, but the two who are often seen as being the two biggest characters are Seth Bullock, a Sheriff from Montana who decides to move to Deadwood with his partner and open a hardware store, and then Al Swearengen, who owns The Gem Saloon and is kind of the unofficial head boss of the camp.)

    - Mad Men (Mad Men is a drama series set in New York during the 60s. It mainly focuses on Donald Draper, who works at an ad agency, but it also focuses on the other employees that he works with, both in their work lives and personal lives.)

    - Breaking Bad (Breaking Bad is a crime drama about a chemistry teacher, Walter White, who learns he has lung cancer. In order to pay for his treatment and provide for his family once he is gone, Walter teams up with an old student of his and begins using his chemistry skills to cook the purest crystal meth on the streets. They start out just planning to do some small time drug deals, but soon find themselves involved with some of the most dangerous criminals around.)

    - Better Call Saul (Better Call Saul is a spin-off of Breaking Bad. It focuses on the lawyer used by the main characters in BB. It is set before the events of Breaking Bad and shows the earlier years of Saul Goodman, who at the time was going by the name James McGill)

    - Game of Thrones (Game of Thrones is a fantasy series. It's about many different powerful families all fighting for power in the fictional land of Westeros. It has MANY different characters, all with their own stories that are going on during the war, so it's hard to give a complete plot summary.)

    - True Detective (True Detective is a crime drama. Season 1 was great but stay away from Season 2 as it was terrible. But Season 1 is about two detectives who find a woman's body, naked in a field with antlers placed on her head. It's about them working to find the killer.)

    - Mr. Robot (Mr. Robot is a drama series, focusing mainly on Elliot Alderson, who works at a cyber security company. On his off time though, he is a vigilante hacker who hacks criminals and provides information for the police so they can arrest them. One day he is contacted by a hacker group called fsociety. They recruit Elliot and they plan to bring down a company called E Corp. They plan to hack the servers and wipe them all clean so that any debt that the American people owe to the company is wiped clean.)

    - Downton Abbey (A historical drama series, Downton Abbey is about a noble family in England. The show follows the members of the family, as well as it's servants, as they live their lives and adapt to a new world. it's set in the early 1900s.

The Blacklist on NBC is my favorite show right now. it's a FBI crime thriller show starring James Spader as Raymond "Red" Reddington. He's a former Naval Intelligence Officer turned international criminal. He turns himself into the FBI in exchange to bring down other criminals he's worked with that the FBI aren't even aware of - called The Blacklist.

Throughout the series, he works with a rookie (at first) FBI profiler named Elizabeth Keene (Megan Boone). It's rumored that she maybe Red's daughter, but hasn't come out officially yet.

it's in it's third season now, so now's a good time to binge watch and catch up. It's on Thursday night's on NBC at 9 PM et. you can watch episodes on NBC.com, or if you have Netflix.
