How common is it for a voicemail system to call you ?

I got a new phone number recently, and had a couple of wrong numbers where when I answered the phone a recorded voice said "please hold".

A human secretary saying "please hold for the president of the united states" I can understand - at least I've seen it in films. But a computer ??

There are so many different things the telemarketing robo calls use these days you can't keep up.  From fake dr. appointment reminders, fake relative callings, names, etc.  Just don't answer any calls from any number or name you don't know.  Once you answer, they know its an active number and will call forever.
