The DAB stations are still partially experimental ... and many have FM counterparts, that do have commercial advertising. The big problem with Digital delivery has been signal loss and signal bounce. Anyone in the fringe area or just outside the strong signal radius from the antenna gets no programming at all. With Analogue signals, we can still receive weak signals, and simply turn up the volume and our ears pick through the noise that is associated with being further away.

If you don't live near a big city, DAB simply doesn't work. Therefore, the rest of us, can't get a signal and rely on FM or AM stations. I haven't been able to get close enough for DAB+ to work, so I'm not buying anything new at the moment to try to pick it up. Some friends have bought them, and are pi##ed off about the reception once they reach the signal dead zone, outside the cities. Much of the country, outlying territories will not likely be served with DAB+ anytime soon.
