Is it legal in Maine to sell a handgun if you are under 21 to a private party?

I recently purchase a handgun I m 19 (perfectly legal and if you didn t know that you shouldn t be answering this question) anyway someone told me it was illegal to sell them if you are under 21 and I need something proving it is a law or something or reassurance in some way like NRA handbook quote or anything

    Federal law says you have to be 21 to sell or buy a handgun

    If it is a private sale, who is going to know other than you and whom your sold it to. You are legal to purchase, and own a firearm, so why wouldn't it be legal to sell that firearm if you don't sell to a prohibited person?
