Can you use a Blu-ray player with a non-HD flat screen tv?

This will depend on the type of output connection you have on your blu ray disc player. If you only have an HDMI output then you would not be able to connect it to a non HDTV. Check the input connection on the tv and the output connection of the blu ray disc player you have. Hope this will help you out.

depends on the tv and the player, you can hook a blu ray player up to a old tube tv just as long as the player has the older red white and yellow out

    Generally no.

The first generation or so of BluRay players included standard def outputs so you could use them with non HDTV televisions. But few of these are made anymore.
