What's going on with my car?!?

Yesterday when I was driving home, there was a loud knocking noise coming from the engine. Half an hour after it was parked, I went back to the car, and there was a funny burning smell.

So this morning, I got it towed to the mechanics. They checked the whole car over and said that everything is perfect. He even took it for a drive to the next town, and it was all perfect. What the hell?

I'm leaving the car there tonight so they can check the brakes, but why is my car going perfectly now? I don't get it...

    So, when this knocking sound and burning smell happened, did you look under the hood? Something similar happened to me. It turned out that a raccoon had taken shelter one cold morning in my warm engine compartment. He left when I opened the hood and, just like you, I never had the problem again.

    the next time you have a problem and the mechanic wants to do a test drive, go along with him/her..........it's possible that the mechanic does not hear the same noise that you do
