I am filing taxes using the status "Married filing separate" We have two children. Can each of us claim one dependent? Other options? thx?

    yes you can each claim one child - if one of you is in a higher tax bracket, you'll get more money back with that person claiming both children

    You each can claim one but filing jointly is probably a better option.

    Yes, that is a terrible idea and the worst way to file, but yes, you could do that. NO EIC, if one itemizes, both must itemize, lose other deductions and credits for filing separately, terrible way to file.
