Auto dealer referal reward?

There's a auto dealer shop in Calgary they says on their bussiness card Refer your friend and get $500 reward. I referred my friend and he purchased a car from them yesterday I called the dealer ship and asked about my reward the guy said oh sorry we made no money from them so we can't give you refer reward. I talked to his manager but same answer. Should I contact with business bureau? Do you guys they can help me? Thanks

Get a letter from your friend that says he referred you, a copy of the bill of sale, and their business card. Document what happened.

Then you can start asking questions of what can be done in Alberta. The police, the better business bureau, a friend who is a lawyer, ask them about your options. Once you have the facts about your remedy (ie small claims court), give the dealer one more chance to come clean. Then, decide if it is worth your time and effort.

As finder's fees go, that one is quite generous....bt obviously not if it never happens. Good luck.

You would be wasting your time. They don't have an ethical obligation to give you anything and you certainly aren't out anything as a result of your friend buying a car.

What I would do is respond with them and say 'ok, then I will be recommending people not go to your dealership in the future since you don't hold true to your word. That will probably cost you much more than $500 of future business, so good luck!"

The BBB won't do sh!t for this. I would go to the GM of the dealership. We used to have a 200.00 referral program at my dealership. Regardless of the money we made, we paid...PERIOD!

Now, if this is a SALESMAN'S BS referral fee and NOT the DEALERSHIPS, then I wouldn't pay you either if I didn't make any money. Sorry, not what you want to hear. If I were to make a profit, then I would pay...it not, I wouldn't.
