Can you help me understand this guy please?

So I've known this guy for a couple of months now. We've hung-out a fair bit, and never has there been an awkward moment. We get on really well. Just a few weeks ago we kissed each other on the lips. A week later I asked him what was going on between us and he said he's really bad when it comes to feelings and that he thinks we need time to grow, and he's unsure of starting a relationship. He doesn't want me getting hurt. After this, I stopped kissing him and, as I thought we were going to be just friends. Yesterday we hung-out again, and he kissed me on the lips against the car. He also knows I'm a virgin, and knows that It will be a while before I do it. Besides, he would find someone easier to pursue if they were his intentions.

Anyway, I'm really confused as to what this guy wants. Should I let him go at his own pace or what?
