Can you shoot a gun in your backyard in Florida?

    Many localities have laws about discharge of firearms. Other than that it depends on your neighbors and whether you can guarantee that the projectile (bullet) will stay on the property (i.e.,do you have proper backstop or distance to your nearest neighbor).

    there may be local ordinances against discharge of firearms -- you'll have to check for that

    If you can do so safely, yes. Unless your municipality has a rule against it.
