What does "GIMME THE SWEET AND LOWDOWN" mean?

The phase, " Gimme the sweet and low down" was shared by two close friends who accidentally met on the street or in a mall. They hadn't seen each other i eons. One spoke in either sophisticated or low class street language. What it meant was for one to share information that was striking or shocking about what had be going on in a common area in the time period time they had been separated. Good luck.
