If the door is a fire door it should open out, Ito the route of escape, however if it's an access door to a room / stairwell it should in most cases open into the room, and usually the light switch would be on the wall as you open the door so you don't have to walk around the door to put lights on, also the danger of a door opening out on to a communal area like a hall or walkway is there is a good chance you would whack someone as they went to come into the room or as they walked by as you came out. I'm a joiner who fits and installs doors regularly. Hope that helps. Scottie

Whether you are pushing or pulling, it depends upon which side you are standing. But I will suggest you that you should replace your outside door with new and stylish sliding door. I have also purchased the sliding door from NorthView Windows and Doors Inc.

For fire safety, outside doors should always open out… whether you are pushing or pulling depends upon which side of the door you are standing.

The door should open into the room if there is space for it. Should open towards a wall, not into nowhere.
