New Yorkers please help!?
I'm going to the Governor's Ball on Randall's Island this Saturday and Sunday. The problem is that I was planning on driving there from NJ and just read that there will be no parking passes available to purchase on the island due to construction! I am completely unfamiliar with that area, can anyone who is experienced at navigating the Manhattan & the boroughs area suggest a place I can park the car and how to reach the island from there? I don't even know where to begin, and I know I procrastinated too long with this but I don't get out much so this is freaking me out! Also I read that the ferry tickets are all sold out. Please tell me I'm not screwed - it's my little son's first concert and he is so excited to see his and our favorite bands! I thank you so much in advance for any suggestions, even a starting point.

I suggest taking mass transit to Randall's Island. Street parking in Harlem on weekends is extremely difficult and parking lots are few and far between.
From NJ, take a bus to the Port Authority at 42nd St. and 8th Ave.
Follow the signs for the "S" shuttle train to Grand Central.
At Grand Central, take a Bronx bound "4", "5" or "6" train to 125th St. ("4" and "5" trains run express.)
The M35 bus at the corner of 125th St and Lexington Ave. will take you to Randall's Island.
By train, take a New Jersey Transit train to Penn Station.
At Penn Station, take and uptown "A", "C" or "E" train one stop to 42nd St and 8th Ave.
At 42nd St. and 8th Ave., follow route above.

From NJ, depends where you coming, New Jersey Transit Buses, Academy Bus, DeCamp, Lakeland Buses takes you to Port Authority Bus Terminal.
Then buy MetroCard at subway station downstairs. NYC Subway/Buses are $2.50 and X80 Premier Express Bus is $6 round trip.
It's best if you buy $10 or $20 MetroCard.
Follow passegeway to Times Sq for Queens-bound (7) train or 42nd St Shuttle to Grand Central.
Transfer to Bronx-bound (4)(5) express train to 125th St/Lexington Av.
X80 Randall's Island express bus provide premier express service to Ichan Stadium for $6.00 round trip fare.
On return trip, you just board X80.
Or take NJ Transit train to Penn Station.
Walk north on 7th Av (toward oncoming traffic) to Times Sq, buy $10 or $20 MetroCard.
Then follow steps above.
