What security settings are Pokemon Platinum/SoulSilver compatible for connecting to the internet?
I'm trying to connect to the internet to get a standby Chikorita in my Platinum game, but it refused to connect to the internet. My cousin told me the problem was that my security settings had to be changed to WEP, but when I go to change them, WEP isn't in the options. I know that TKIP is an option, but I'm afraid that I will really screw up my internet connection settings if I go any further with the setting modification. Any suggestions?

If WEP isn't an option, you have to disable the security temporarily, or get a nintendo wifi usb connector

Every game up to HG/SS uses WEP. If you are going to trade it is recommended to turn off security. This is DANGEROUS but recommended.
