If you have the money to pay Mays rent why not just make that Aprils rent?
But yes, they can still evict you because you are still late on Aprils rent.

Anything you pay now would be applied to April's rent, not May. Yes they can still evict you.

It depends on who your renting from. If it's some huge apartment complex or a corporation with lots of properties, then their not likely to make any kind of deal. Because they have their corporate rules, and they have over 100 tenants, and they just don't care enough about you to make any kind of acceptation.
If your dealing with a small time owner, then you can work something out. A lawyer would tell you to get any deal in writing. But I don't think that's the best way to go.
If it's a small time landlord, then pay the rent early, and pay a little bit more then a months rent. It shows that you recognize the debt and your going to pay it.
Landlords don't want to go to court. So if you give him a reason to stay out of court their likely to go for that.
If it's a large corporation then I would get any deal in writing. Because for a corporation, if it's not in writing then it doesn't exist.

You'll have to pay prorated rent until you have to vacate, which should be 5 days after the court date.
