Kizer wasn't the one who instituted the ban. The New Jersey State Athletic Commission drew up the Unified Rules, which have been adopted in most US states and mimicked world-wide by many other promotions. Kizer has only been with the NSAC since 2006, years after THEY had adopted the Unified Rules. One guy isn't responsible for creating rules for the entire sport of MMA; it's easy to focus on one figurehead, but Kizer's power doesn't extend outside of Nevada.

At any rate, no, I don't think it's time to bring them back. While there is no evidence in MMA that they're any more dangerous, inherently, than other techniques, the public as a whole is not in favor of them, because it appears "dirty". And they really don't serve much of a function; for the most part, victims of these techniques, especially soccer kicks, were all but helpless to begin with. While I like the creativity of guys like Sakuraba and "Shogun" Rua passing the guard by using stomps, it's hardly an essential technique for MMA. The sport as a whole has little to gain in terms of action and technique, and a LOT to lose in terms of image and popularity, by reintroducing such techniques in North American MMA.

Are you talking about MMA? Stomps are the most powerful break I know of and can be lethal, that is why they are banned in MMA (and I believe Muay Thai). Are you referring to kicking an opponent on the ground with soccer kicks? This is only effective if you and your buddies surround the guy, one on one the guy could either grap your leg and pull you down or role out of it and stand up. Ground and pound in the full mount gives you dominance, and fighting is about dominance and controlling your opponent(s). Ground and pound makes that a lot easier than if your standing over them stomping or kicking (they could sweep your leg).

In a street fight everythings different, there are no rules.

The Soccer kick is still allowed in One FC. Personally i think if people want to claim MMA as being "close to reality"..then they should make it close to reality. Otherwise, admit that it is just sport.

Stomping. How fun. I always wanted to see people have their internal organs crushed on public TV.

Source(s): What is this I don't even- WHY DO YOU THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA?!
