Why does Y/A have this problem?
I often get a message something like "Oops, seems like you have a lot of punctuation" I find it strange that punctuation an answer properly should be worthy of comment. I even use correct punctuation when I'm composing a text on my mobile phone. Does anyone else think this is odd?

If you use proper punctuation, and nothing else, it pops up quite often.
I don't even notice it anymore, and you shouldn't either. Just another
Y/A glitch.

In most writing, using too much punctuation can be a real problem, and Y! Answers reads our questions as if they're normal writing. Of course it isn't normal writing because we don't have bold face, italics, or the ability to underline. This forces us to use more punctuation than would otherwise be needed. Additionally, because we're asking and answering questions that are often complex, we tend to use more punctuation. Y! Answers is of course an automated system and doesn't allow for the type of writing that we do on this site.

Yahoo is just a program. Someone has set it up so if more than basic punctuation is used, that message appears. But it is quite often wrong. It is wrong about a number of other things as well - for example, it frequently highlights 'it's' (meaning it is) Who oops! I just got the 'lot of punctuation blurb. Probably because I used brackets and apostrophes in the same sentence.

It's not a big deal most of the time. I answer a lot of math-based questions and all the symbols trigger that message.
