What credence can we give these books?
I think that the Bible was like an historic Wikipedia where many people made their contribution and now nobody knows who they were or what their qualification was to add their contribution. In the same way, who wrote the Koran which defines the way in which Muslims conduct their lives? We are told that no-one should make any representation of Mohammed (?) but if no-one has ever done so, how would anyone know what he looked like? It follows that it would be impossible to do so thus it cannot be a sin

Intellects such as Newton, Boyle, Kepler considered the Bible to have credence.
'I think....' is hardly evidence

The Bible is a collection of writings from a long tradition that would have been handed down mouth to mouth as it still is in very many cultures today. No-one knows waht language the earliest books were written in and no-one knows how well they have been translated. It is collection of books all put into one.
it is good point that you make about Muhommed. However nearly all Muslim Houses have a picture of a smiling, benevolent man with beard with urdu writing under it. If you asl who that is you will be told "The Prophet". Not sure who this guy is if he is not THE prophet.

The bible was the first Wikipedia? I like it...
A collection of unverified stories by anonymous sources collected over the years, then edited and translated and edited and translated until the final product is what won the popularity contest. (not the truth contest)
At least Wikipedia doesn't say to stone people who said what I just said...I don't think...
