1995 S-10 4.3 V6 5 speed manual clutch problem.?

Question

I have had this truck for over 10 years.  It has always had a very stiff clutch.  In other words, it is very hard to depress the pedal to the floor.  It is so bad that lately it is difficult to engage the safety switch.

My son asked to borrow it last week and told me he could not get it to start.  I went out and instead of getting in the truck I put my right foot on the pedal and pushed down.  Something broke and the pedal flopped to the side.  The clutch still works but it needs to be fixed.

The pedal now flops from side to side but is still connected to the master cylinder and the bracket.  I can drive the truck but don't know how long it will last this way.  What I want to know is did I break the guide on the master cylinder or did I mess up the way the pedal hangs from the bracket.  I am too old (65) and fat to get under the dashboard to see what is going on. Any help is appreciated.  No I don't need an answer from the GM customer service guy.  (I know where to take my truck)  I am looking for what is really wrong and would appreciate an answer from one of the GM techs on here that have actually worked on S-10s and Sonomas. I would guess that the bracket has broken on one edge and will soon break into two parts and will no longer work.  I also think you have had a clutch pressure plate problem or possible an input shaft/throwout bearing problem for 10 years that will not be fixed by the replacement of the broken bracket.  Just guessing from what you say.

This truck does not have a problem. You do. Apparently you work for free and somehow manage to have a successful life all the way to being your age. Congratulations. However, others get paid for the efforts at education, vocational and technical training and have  established a business as to automotive repairs. You abused this vehicle for ten years. A testimonial could not be better for Chevrolet.  The abuse has ended. The truck is broken. Accept that. Either buy  a new one or have this one towed to a mechanic. As to your, well, there is always the psychologist somewhere in your town that could give you an insight as to your behavior. However, it is my conclusion that you will not go. There is an old joke as to the old man who prayed to God for years for a winning lottery ticket. One dark night, God finally answered. He said, "Ben, meet me halfway. BUY A TICKET." And that is why you need to do. Buy a ticket and get a mechanic to fix this abused truck. You should have done this nine years and eleven months ago. BUY A TICKET.
