Does anyone know if these are on the market yet?

It's a military equipment. I doubt it's going to be on the market soon, especially since it's, you know, military technology.

I read that article too - and I thought wasting $620,000 on a stealth snowmobile is utter bull. All you need are some well-trained white huskies, a white sled, and white clothing to get through the Arctic "stealthily." Oh, and lots of dog food.

Plus, a "stealth snowmobile" is hardly the most James Bond-esque thing ever.

On the other hand... I can finally brag to my friends about something cool:

Friend 1: "I have a car!"

Friend 2: "Yeah? I have a jacuzzi!"

Me: "Yeah? I have a military stealth snowmobile!"

PS, you live in Vancouver. I doubt you'd need a snowmobile... ever :P

I am a Canadian Ranger, and I definitely passed this info on to my Sergeant. I think we'd all want one!

But, Rangers, even though we are military, have to provide our own equipment - including snowmobiles. $600,000 is just a bit much to handle on the $100 a day we get being a Ranger, and then only on our annual patrol of about 10 days. You'd need 600 years to pay it off!

While I know a chap in Dawson City who has an electric truck, and the City of Whitehorse is experimenting with electric vehicles, batteries are notoriously difficult to keep working in the extreme cold. The guys with 4-strokes have trouble starting sometimes (no pull starts for them), thanks to the batteries dying. If the fancy machine can run for 2 weeks, and start at -50C - then it might be useful.

Surrrrre they are. All you have to do is have the proper authorization to get one. ....

That'd have to be one seriously lucrative paper route to justify such a pricey vehicle. Whaddya drive in the summer? Lamborgini? You do HAVE summer up yonder; right?

Edit: well, since you have a superfluity of rain, I think the snowmobile is entirely the wrong approach. I think you should be encouraging them to develop something that allows you to slide like a giant slug. It would be much more appropriate, if a little on the slow side.

Needful, now I am really pee'd. I have been asking for my car to be replaced for over a year. Yet the military clowns can go playing on $620K machines, so I guess these things are going to replace the so called F35's.

They are too stealthy. I looked in the showroom and on their website plus I asked around work and nobody has seen them yet. All that tells me is they must be good. Or they better be for that price.

Then again, 20 year old Bombardier's with a polar bear skin rug thrown over them could work too.
