How do I create a virtual world?

After my favorite virtual world vside.com shut down and I couldn't find any others that suit me, I want to create a virtual for the other vsiders to have a new game. Can someone please tell me where to start? Thank you in advance!

I would look into second life but you need to look into C programming (http://www.thenewboston.org)/ and then into OpenGL. Then you need to read up on sockets and p2p networks unless you wish to purchase servers to run your entire game which will mean a LOT of money out of your pocket.

If you want to create your own, start programming - and that's not done with some hours of writing some codes. It takes a lot time. And even more if you're alone.

I don't really know what programming languages that's required for a game like that, but I know that C++ is required and also C#. It's really complicated, I don't really know, I program other things.

Otherwise, there's lots of others "games", like Sims, WoW (lol), Smeet, Second Life & SimCity (the latest one) etc.
