What do girls want in a freshman? what will grab their attention?

Assuming you're a fish hoping to attract upperfreshman girls, good luck.

They would defiantly want maturity and confidence. Don't act like you're at the top, cause you're not. That's the problem with majority of the freshman. They don't realize they're back at the bottom of the totem pole.

Anyway, i digress. Try to not be desperate for their attention, that's defiantly annoying and it'll make you seem kind of obnoxious. Keep your options open to freshman girls too.
