That would be EXCELLENT!
Religion is, after all, the #1 greatest impediment to human achievement.
It's high time we tossed it and all of it's trappings onto the ash heap of history where it belongs.
I am, however, highly skeptical. There are far too many stupid people in the world...

Yeah no
Nice try but religion was formed back in BC and has lived up to and including these troubling times
Btw, atheism is so not grounded with truth

The article doesn't actually say that (despite the headline), it just says atheism will increase in Western societies until it becomes the majority in a few decades. I agree with this. Some people will still be religious.

I doubt it.
I'd just as soon believe that if I hopped like a rabbit, click my heels three times and say "there's no place like home" that suddenly crazyness will leave everyone who is crazy in the world, which is to say about 50% of the population, in one form or another...
Still would be nice.

I don't think all religion should disappear, but there are some aspects that piss me off. For example, the cherry picking of the Bible, and how everyone only pays attention to what they want to hear.

The only things that would accomplish that would be:
A worldwide plague with extremely high mortality rates.
A global thermonuclear war.
A massive asteroid strike.
I'll be dead by then, so it doesn't concern me a great deal.

The Bible actually does foretell the end of all *false* religion.
It does not give a date when that will happen, or happen by . . .
However, in symbolic language it does show what will lead up to it,
and in which era of history it will take place.
If you would like to read about it, I suggest this message, which has been given a world wide distribution:
"The End of False Religion Is Near!"

I think you atheists are the ones needing to worry about extinction.
The CIA's World Factbook gives the world population as 7,021,836,029 (July 2012 est.) and the distribution of religions as Christian 33.39% (of which Roman Catholic 18.85%, Protestant 8.15%, Orthodox 4.96%, Anglican 1.26%), Muslim 22.74%, Hindu 13.8%, Buddhist 6.77%, Sikh 0.35%, Jewish 0.22%, Baha'i 0.11%, other religions 10.95%, non-religious 9.66%, atheists 2.01%.
