In my experience, it actually was difficult.

I happen to know mathematics, which was my major in college, yet once you have to read (and write essays about) things written by people like Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Saint Augustine (who was by no means a 'saint'), Machiavelli, etc. well, things get difficult from there, in my opinion. They are all great writers and use much logic in their writing (especially the ancient Greek writers).

The 'difficulty', for me at least, was being able to remember and/or tell the difference between Plato's ideas on a topic as opposed to what Aristotle wrote about the same topic, for example. There are subtle differences in their writings and 'arguments'.
