Am I being asked to do to much for my step kids?

My boyfriend/hubby have been living together for 6 months. He has 2 kids 8 and 10 who we have every other week. I have one daughter who is 4 fulltime. I work from home and I'm feeling very taken advantage of. I have my 4 year old go to daycare during the day so I can work and have some time to myself. Well now that summer has come and the kids are out of school my Hubby expects me to watch them on the weeks that we have them. He only works wed and thurs 12 hr shifts. But he cant sit at home on his days off so he goes out fishing and to the bar and what not leaving me with the kids. Is it wrong of me to be upset? I try talking to him about taking control over the kids on his days off so I can work...this last week he's only spent 48 hours with them total and it's been all me taking care of them. He makes me feel bad that I've said anything at all. Claiming he wont ever ask me for anything again and I can just worry about me and my daughter. UGH! I'm feeling so alone. Blending two families is SOOO hard!

Yes he is taking advantage of you. Sure, when he offered to never ask for your help again, he was trying to make you feel bad, but just don't buy into it. You did nothing wrong, so don't act or feel guilty.

If he brings it up again, hold your ground. Tell him that it is hypocritical for him to make you feel guilty when he is not willing to help out with your daughter. They are his kids and you would be happy to pitch in, but the bottom line is that they are his responsibility. If he has no interest in taking care of his own children, why should you?

You are a full-time mom who works more hours than he does. He only has his kids part-time and clearly doesn't work enough to feel short of free time. You deserve time to yourself too. Oh, and if he gives you this bullshit about how he wouldn't have married you if he had known this abou you, then snap back that you wouldn't have married him if you knew he was such a terrible father and entitled husband.

Why don't you recommend going on a family trip all of you on one of his days off? Maybe he'll realise how fun it is to spend time with his kids and start taking them fishing and stuff when he goes.

"But he can't sit at home on his days off"

He needs to take his children WITH HIM when he leaves the house! If he makes you feel guilty, shake it off. He is playing you.
